As the XFC (Xtreme Fighting Championship) promotion builds up towards another fantastic night of MMA action in Florida, their star man took time out of his busy schedule to talk about his return. Ladies and gentleman, "The Giant" has awoken.   For many, that signals very bad news. "The Giant" is better known as Gan McGee - a man who needs no introduction. Standing at an incredible 6'10 and weighing over 250lbs, McGee is a heavyweight fighter with an impressive reputation.   Having beaten some big names throughout MMA, McGee was left "robbed" of the UFC Heavyweight title after losing in the main event of UFC 44 against then champion Tim Sylvia. While the fight between Karo Parisyan and Yoshiyuki Yoshida was postponed after Parisyan suffered an injury just a day before the fight, the UFC have still put on a fantastic card and some great fights. It's going to be a awesome night of MMA action.   Our main event - which sees Rashad Evans up against Chuck Liddell - looks set to be a great battle between two men who feel ready to step up and face Forrest Griffin for the Light-heavyweight title. Personally, I can't see this fight going the distance. No doubt, I've just cursed it but there's something about Liddell at the minute which is fantastic. He seems hungry again. He seems refocused on capturing what he believes is his title.   I have no doubt that if Liddell steps through the gears in this fight, then he will comfortably deal with Evans. What I do know for sure is, this is one hell of a fight for Rashad Evans. A win - and he will be one of the main men for a shot at the title but if he loses, then he falls behind a pack consisting of Quinton Jackson, Wanderlai Silva, Lyoto Machida, Liddell and maybe even Brandon ...

WEC's September 10 show headlined by Urijah Faber has been moved to November 5 due to concern about Hurricane Ike. The following statement was released late on Friday night:   HOLLYWOOD, FLA. - World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino today announced that WEC: FABER vs. BROWN fight at the Hard Rock Live scheduled for Wednesday, September 10 has been POSTPONED due to the threat of Hurricane Ike to South Florida.   The fight has been rescheduled for November 5 at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Tickets purchased for the September 10th date remain valid and will be honored .on the new date. Refunds for fans that are unable to attend the rescheduled date can be obtained at the point of purchase.   The WEC press conference scheduled for September 8 at Paradise Live has been cancelled.   "Due to the potential of a major hurricane hitting the South Florida area on Wednesday we were compelled to postpone the event," said Vice President of Operations and Production Peter Dropick. The scheduled bout between Karo Parisyan and Yoshiyuki Yoshida for Saturday night's UFC 88 in Atlanta has been scrapped.   The UFC have indicated that a last-minute injury has forced Parisyan to withdraw and with little time left before the fights, no opponent will be called upon as a replacement and the bout will be scrapped entirely.   UFC 88 will go on as schedule with nine fights. It's expected that the fight between Korean fighter Dong Hyun Kim and Ultimate Fighter alumnus Matt Brown will be moved up from the preliminary bouts to the pay-per-view portion of the event.   Parisyan and Yoshida were both present at Thursday's pre-fight press conference. MMAJunkie.com are reporting that youngster Jeremy "Lil Heathen" Stephens (13-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC), whose three-fight win streak was snapped with a recent unanimous-decision loss to Spencer Fisher, will meet UFC newcomer and Brazilian fight veteran Rafael dos Anjos (11-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in November at UFC 91.   Martin Smith martin@mmapreview.com

Ryan Jensen to replace Jeremy Horn at UFC Fight Night   MMAJunkie.com is reporting that Jeremy Horn has suffered a wrist injury and will be replaced by Ryan Jensen in a fight against Wilson Gouveia.   The fight will take place on September 17 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium as part of the next UFC Fight Night.   It certainly doesn't look promising for Jensen - despite having a 13-4 MMA record, he is currently 0-2 in the UFC.     Anthony Johnson recovered from injury   Anthony Johnson has recovered from the serious eye injury that he suffered at the July Fight Night which featured Anderson Silva against James Irvin.   It certainly wouldn't surprise me if he faced Kevin Burns in his return following their controversial fight which left Johnson blinded.   Rumour has it Johnson has been pencilled in for an October return but we certainly can't confirm anything right now.   Aurelio to replace injured Tibau against Franca   A shoulder injury has forced Gleison Tibau (15-6 MMA, 4-3 UFC) out of UFC 90, and he'll be replaced by Marcus Aurelio (16-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) in a bout with Hermes Franca (18-7 MMA, 5-4 UFC).   Although nothing has been confirmed by UFC.com, we've had it confirmed off a number of sources.   Martin Smith martin@mmapreview.com

The UFC have confirmed that Randy Couture will make his UFC return on November 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.   Couture will face Brock Lesnar in a five-round fight with Couture's UFC Heavyweight Title on the line.   Dana White made the announcement during a media conference call just moments ago. Couture had been at odds with UFC over contractual issues since the back end of last year.   Couture left the UFC last October, faxing a letter of resignation from South Africa where he was filming a movie.   At the time, he felt he had been shown a lack of respect from UFC officials. He also cited the hope of a fight with international star Fedor Emelianenko as reasons for his departure.   But the UFC refused to let him resign from what in their opinion was a valid contract which still had two fights to fulfill.   That led to a lengthy legal battle between the legendary fighter and the UFC.   But last week, news broke that Couture could be ready to return, with speculation mounting over the past couple of days that he would return for UFC 91.   Portland, OR had been touted as a possible location for the show.   It was also announced during Tuesday's ...

Rumours regarding UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture's (16-8 MMA, 8-5 UFC) possible return to the UFC are continuing to build momentum around the internet.   A number of sites are reporting that Couture will be returning for UFC 91 on Nov. 15 in Portland, Ore.   Even more, it is believed that Couture's next fight would be on the main event of that card against Brock Lesnar. Although we can't confirm or deny these rumours, I have had it on good authority for well over a month that the UFC have been pushing to get Lesnar in the octagon at the November show. Therefore, it makes good sense that these rumours are taking place.   The fight against Lesnar would be under a new contract for Couture - which would see him paid more and would include additional benefits.   Even more exciting is the rumours that the UFC is believed to open to the idea of co-promoting a bout with M-1 Global between Couture and WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko.   A number of different sources have told me that the UFC have almost completely resolved previous issues that prevented a bout between Couture and Fedor.   It's believed a potential fight would take place on February 2nd next year and ...
